Bike/Walk advocates,
HJ45, the Interim Study of Bicycle and Pedestrian Paths passed out of committee on a unanimous 14-0 vote. Thank you that did make contact with the committee. We have the next step to make now and we need your action again. Or if you didn’t, this is critical that you act now! We found out today that the bill will have second reading be on the floor tomorrow, April 11th. That session starts at 1:00 pm, MDT, so you still have time to make a difference!
Please contact your home district legislators and simply ask them to vote yes on HJ45. You can find your legislator here . We need volume here so if you could pass this onto your group or others you know will take action on behalf of future bicyclist and pedestrian transportation, please forward.
The bill information is here .
Let’s get a strong vote now, it will help in the Senate.
This bill is our best hope for a comprehensive look, by the legislative staff themselves, at what these shared use paths are used for, their value – transportation, recreation and tourism, safety and economic considerations, current and possible funding sources, and what other states have established, funded and managed shared use paths. Combined with the recently released (draft) Montana Bike/Ped plan , this will lay the ground work for a bicycling and walking future along our state highways.
Please take action now.
Travel safe!
